Hi, it’s been a long time since I last gave an update. Well, I’ve been quite busy with work and recovering from work lately, so I don’t have anything very exciting like a completed script to announce. However, I have been helping Stealth Translations out a bit with the script for The Legend of Double Moon and the manual for FEDA. Early days for The Legend of Double Moon still, but I’ll update again once I make some more progress.
and what news about Energy Breaker progress?)
When there’s EB news, it’ll be posted here.
Y’know Energy Breaker is most likely going to be the last of the really old translation projects to be finished. Arabian Nights is finally nearing completion. That leaves one more left. I hope it’s finished soon.
Yeah, it is a very long-lived project. I would go as far as to say that’s one of the reasons why it’s taking so long. We don’t want to ruin years of work by releasing something that we’re not totally happy with. As it stands now, I’m very happy with the work we’ve done so far, but I can still see room for improvement. I guess I’m a bit of a perfectionist, but there’s also the fact that I’ve been improving as a translator as well over the years, and as such keep noticing things I don’t like about older pieces of text.
I think (and this is my personal view) that considering the age of this game, most people aren’t going to beat the game, let alone play the game more than five minutes. That’s why it’s important we get everything right on the first shot. Once it’s out the door, no one’s going to be waiting with bated breath for a bugfix patch.
You could be wrong, many like myself play favorite games over and over (and reread favorite books) I have several favorite fan translations, to me some are better than the official ones.
I’d love to be wrong.
I cant wait to see a Aretha 1 or 2 translation one day as that game is awesome.
I’d like to see a translation of G.O.D. It’s like the second coming of Earthbound but not many people outside of Japan have played through it.
I can’t wait for the translation of Eternal Filena. I liked the game.
For that matter, I’d love to see all the Dragon Quests “Englishized” I just finished DQ3r (the Snes remake) and am working my way with a lot of difficulty through DQ4 PSX, not evan a menu hack for it. Not sure if I can get all the way through it, keep winding up dead cause I can’t find the right command. I’ll play the Eternal Filena when you finish it, I already been through the partial you had posted before and it’s interesting. Being disabled and retired I got lots of time for games.
G.O.D., I believe you’re willing to translate that one. If so then I could ask someone if they’d be interested in hacking it for you. They might willing since Byuu already did some work on it they could use.
