Can’t get past the first coliseum battle in Filena? Can’t use Flying Ripper?

Some people have been reporting you start out at a lower level than you’re supposed to, and thus don’t even have enough TP to use Flying Ripper in the intro, much less beat the first coliseum battle.

My guesses are the following:
- There were two versions of the ROM released, one of which is not compatible with the translation.
- There are corrupt ROMs floating around.
- Someone has added a trainer or something to the ROM and the initial XP or other value has been set to 0.

In the event that the game is ridiculously hard and you suffer from the above problems, please try getting the ROM from a different source. Additionally, please try it without the translation patch and see if it works fine before applying the patch. (If that’s the case I want to know about it.)

  • Wonder if they are aware there are more than 1 weapon? Think I got through half the first play-through without realizing that. Better on that first fight using white ray with the crystal knife as it hits for twice as much damage, and yes, you will run out of tp during the fight using either technique, just requires two or three more blows with the crystal knife.

  • No, they are talking about in the beginning and you only have 4tp, so they can’t do any techniques and they have about 20 or so hp. Someone on my Ytube channel told me about the other rom.

  • Humm, in that case he’s probably right, it’s a hacked rom, so you’d wanna find another somewhere else, or dump your own. Or you could hack the savestate at 13C7/13C9 for the hp and 13CB/13CD for the tp, max value is FFFF (9999) for both as I recall, this is on Zsnes using Hex workshop. Or you could use Zsnes’s cheat file and use these codes: 7E07B40F, 7E07B527, 7E07B60F, 7E07B727 for the hp and 7E07BAFF, 7E07BB02 for the tp. Hope this helps.

  • The rom i used had the same amount of bytes said in the readme, but instead, after my first battle, everyone leveled up to lvl 99.

  • Thank you for your hard work on this, it’s been a rather interesting game to play though. ..oh, right. Er, I had a question, though- Regarding the merchants at the black market who seem to trade ten items for a different one, since it seems to be garbled text, you wouldn’t happen to recall which one of them takes the Hyper Material, would you?
