Remember how the scrolling intro text for Filena was garbled cavespeak since the beginning of time?
Yeah.

Thanks, Bongo`.
Oh, and the scrolling credits are nearly done as well. More than enough space to list the many names who had a hand in this project.

Good times.

It’s finally inserted, thanks to byuu’s help. What do you think?

Umihara Kawase was my very first contribution to the translation scene, and it’s very nostalgic for me.

However, I also produced the original translation when I was an embarassing highschool kid, and it ended up being that I couldn’t think back on it without cringing in embarassment because of the way I’d done things.
The main thing that bothered me was that I had altered the TNN logo graphic at the start of the game to a short message, and another thing was the really crappy hand-written “The End!” on the Game Over screen. I decided I couldn’t put this embarassing work on my current site without fixing this, and I thought maybe I could at least get this out there so that eventually only a few people will know that I was a dumb highschool kid once. Aside from removing the idiocy and improving the Game Over graphic text, the patch remains the same, but I would very much appreciate it if any sites carrying the patch would update it with this release.

I’ve been away on a little holiday and have been doing some official (!) translation work, so I don’t have much progress to report at the moment. In the meantime, here is a mostly random selection of screenshots. Continue reading ‘Platter of selected screenshots for screenshot gourmands’
I’ve made a lot of progress in translating Eien no Filena recently, thanks to the great reception of the thread I started about it on the Something Awful forums. I’d estimate I’m probably about halfway through the script now.
I’ll release another patch after Christmas with the cumulative progress up until then.
Energy Breaker is well into beta testing at the moment. Disnesquick and I have gotten a lot of good feedback from the testers, so we’ve been able to make a lot of progress in polishing the translation for release. I never realised I make so many horrid typos. See below for a before and after of one of my “corrections” based on beta tester input.

I’ve released a new patch for Eien no Filena which features the latest progress made on the game. The current patch features:
- Translation up to the third town in the game!
- A smashing new VWF which will allow me to pack more text into a window, meaning less button-pressing and awkward arrangments to fit stuff on the screen!
- Errors and bad writing in the earlier portions of the script have been corrected! (Thanks Corvid!)

This is slightly old news, but it looks like the latest ZSNES WIP (05/27 WIP at the time of writing) correctly displays the map screen in Energy Breaker. Hurrah!

I put in an extra bit of work on Filena today to produce a small teaser patch, which should leave you with at least the first couple hours of gameplay if you go around talking to everyone. Enjoy!
Make sure you read the readme.txt file! It contains useful information and some anecdotal information too. I didn’t write all of it for nothing!
